coins, and other clerical duties.

Port St. Lucie Branch was closed March 17 – 22 for the replacement of their roof, they
nd
were suppose to reopen on Saturday, March 22 but due to some rain and the roof not
being completely finished there was a leak and more work was needed so we had to close
on Saturday.
st
Fort Pierce Branch was closed on Friday, March 21 for the ‘reading of shelves’ with
about 85% of the collection being read and hundreds of books going back to have new
spine labels placed on them or repairs made. Many books that were supposed to be at
other libraries were removed and returned to the appropriate site.
Fort Pierce and Morningside Branches were closed on Easter Sunday.

Lakewood Park Branch was closed on March 26 for electrical wiring for a water heater.

Morningside Branch will be closed April 16-18 to have a new circulation desk
installed – there will be three staff members on site during the installation others will take
vacation or be deployed to another site.

Fort Pierce Branch is scheduled to be closed April 28 & 29 for the installation of a new
air conditioner – this has not been finalized.

on the public restrooms soon.

Zora Fest – thanks to Bertha, Carla, Carnelle and Helen for working at the Book Sale
table. AmeriCorps volunteers were also on site and they helped bring in all the boxes for
our book sale and at the end of the day LPA maintenance staff helped bring the boxes
back to the van. Between Saturday and Sunday we sold $1257 worth of books. Cultural
Affairs has asked to purchase a copy of each title to have in their office and I did deliver
the books last week. Jody said that Lucy Hurston extended her trip so that she could see
the Zora documentary film on Sunday. Lucy was very impressed and has offered to do
the narration for future films. Lucy also told Jody that she wants to identify Fort Pierce
as the official Zora Fest which will help with funding for future events through the
family’s foundation and other organizations.
Frank Roberts at Hurston Branch has had some preliminary conversations with Dean
Hawkins at IRCC in regards to programs that will be held at HRDC
We continue to borrow Library Clerks from Lakewood Park, Port St. Lucie and
Morningside Branch to help with the shelving of library materials.
