Ongoing Projects Avenue D Roundabout – Replace the images at the bottom of the art piece to represent local individuals. At committee’s request, the images will be of Highwaymen, rather than the initial individuals proposed by the artist. The artist now proposed to add images in each of the columns that surround the roundabout structure. Committee members disagreed with the concept and requested that instead of having images of specific individuals, to have stronger, more inclusive conceptual images of the group (i.e.: generic faces of a Highwayman painting a piece, walking down the street with his paintings for sale, etc.). The artist has requested additional fee for the redesign of the bottom panels of the piece . Marty moved to approval, Jon seconded. All members voted against on the basis that the project has not commenced and the artist has not been given the final Motion failed. approval to go ahead with the images to insert. Several ideas were proposed to be more inclusive of all the artists into the art piece, such as inserting the names of the artists or adding in the future markers coming up to the roundabout. Jack moved to deny the artist proposal of portraits of specific individuals for the panels. Jon seconded. All members voted unanimously to deny proposal. Marty moved to go back to the artist, in writing, and request that the portraits are replaced with depictions of the process of creating and selling the Highwaymen paintings. Jon seconded the motion. All members voted in favor, motion passed. Lighting on each of the ongoing projects (Avenue D Roundabout, Fenn Center, Lakewood Park roundabout). Committee members agreed to recommend that all three ongoing projects have lighting and, wherever possible and cost effective, solar lighting. The meeting adjourned at 4:50 p.m. Next regular meeting is scheduled for Thursday, December 13, 2008 at 3:30 a.m. at the Grants conference room, 2300 Virginia Avenue, Fort Pierce. Respectfully submitted, Suzanne Antonetti
