AiPP placed in County’s Environmental Lands Sandy Bogan, Oxbow Environmental Center Manager stated she was aware the AiPP had proposed the idea of placing art pieces in Environmental Lands owned by the County and stated that although she cannot speak for what can be done in all of them, she would be very supportive of placing an art piece within the Oxbow’s premises and that the center has a very good attendance, therefore there would be some exposure to the public as it is the intent of the AiPP committee for all the art pieces purchased and leased for the program. She pointed out that one of the WOW2 sculptures was placed at the Oxbow. There was some discussion on how practical it would be to place art pieces at other locations, as they are not visited much by the public and it would defeat the purpose of the AiPP program and it would also bring up issues as to vandalism of the pieces if there is no surveillance of the area. There was also discussion on using the roads medians and the issues that usually come up trying to permit with FDOT. AiPP Annual Plan Jody referred to the handout that outlines the AiPP projects completed in 2007/2008 as well as the projects that are pending for completion. There was discussion in regards of the priority the pending projects will be given. There was discussion of projects to be pursued as well as publication of Artsview and advertising of events (WOW3).The committee also discussed that some of the murals will be sunset (Veteran’s Park Amphitheater). Jon Ward stated he would like to pursue placing a big scale art piece somewhere around the area of Okeechobee Road and I95 as a gateway/welcome to the County symbol as it has been done in many other cities, because of the high traffic area. Committee members agreed that at the next meeting two sites will be identified to be proposed for art pieces. WOW3 There was some preliminary discussion on organizing a third outdoor leased sculptures show. The meeting adjourned at 5:05 p.m. Next regular meeting is scheduled for Thursday, February 12, 2009 at 3:30 a.m. at the Code Enforcement conference room, 2300 Virginia Avenue, Fort Pierce. Respectfully submitted, Suzanne Antonetti
