St. Lucie County Sustainability Advisory Committee

MEETING MINUTES
Present: Alan Gilbert, Robert Tabor, Donna Rhoden, Derrick Dukes, Leon Camarda, Eric Winterstein, Larry Pelton, Amy Brunjes
Staff and Guests: Sandra Bogan, ERD; Karen Smith, ERD; Craig Linton (Evans Properties), Ron LeClair (Cold-Plus)

The meeting was called to order by the Chairman at 1:11 pm
MOTION TO APPROVE minutes of April 29, 2010 meeting made by Eric Winterstein, seconded by Craig Linton, passed
unanimously.
Sandra told the Committee that the new resolution was adopted by the Board of County Commissioners, and introduced Larry Pelton
as the newest member of the Committee.
Guest Ron LeClair introduced himself and is interested in the work of this committee.
Sandra invited the Committee to the June 8 Board meeting as a presentation was being made on St. Lucie’s Green County Award,

which was the Committee’s first recommendation to the BOCC.
Alan Gilbert introduced the Cradle to Cradle concept by playing the documentary entitled Waste = Food. The group discussed how the
County could implement this approach to waste, including requiring or offering incentives for the deconstruction and re-use of building
materials. Eric Winterstein discussed the deconstruction of the power plant and said he would look into having a speaker at the next
meeting to give more details.
MEETING ADJOURNED at 3:00, motion by Eric Winterstein, seconded by Derrick Dukes, unanimously approved.
