Herron Ave. Port St. Lucie, FL 34952 September 13, 2010 Board of Directors, SELF of St. Lucie County 2300 Virginia Ave. Fort Pierce, FL 34982 RE: Summary of Significant Events Dear Board Members: As requested, here is a short summary of events of the EECBG Grant and Revolving Loan Fund (Future CDFI). ? On December 14, 2009 an application was submitted to the U. S. Department of Energy for an Energy Efficient and Conservation Block Grant (EECBR) in the amount of $5.0 million. The funds for this grant are part of an allocation in the amount of $3.2 billion authorized by the America Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. ? On July 22, 2010, the Articles of Incorporation were submitted and approved by the Florida Secretary of State to form a non-profit organization with the purpose to provide loans to finance energy efficient and conservation improvements. ? On August 12, 2010 the county was awarded $2,941,500 in grant funds to establish a loan fund to provide financing for energy efficient and conservation improvements to homes and businesses in St. Lucie County and the surrounding areas. ? On August 13, 2010, the Board of Directors met formally for the first time to adopt the By-Laws of the Corporation and elect officers. The Board of Directors consists of Commissioner Chris Dzadovsky, President; Larry Pelton, Vice-President; Thomas Cooper, Secretary; Aileen Pruitt, Treasurer and Directors, Julian Nazario, Dr. Alan Roberts, Kyle Abney, and Bob Ludlum. ? On September 10, 2010, the Board of Directors met to discuss the progress of setting up the loan fund. At the meeting a Loan Policy and Loan Application were adopted. A sub-committee, composed of bankers and businessmen, met several times in August to formulate these documents. ? On September 15, 2010, a sub-committee consisting of members of the Board is scheduled to meet to discuss the role and qualifications of an energy auditor. Sincerely, Daniel J.
