JOSEI'l-I E. SMITH
CLERK OF THE CIRCUIT COURT
S-r, Lua t-- COUNTY, FLORI DA
October 28, 2010
'rhe Honorable Charles Grande, Chair
St, Lucie County Board of County Commissioners
2' )00 Virginia Avenue
Fort Pierce, Florida 34982
Dear Chairrnan Grande.,
At the Public Safety Coordinating Council held September 0, 2010,
corrinaetits were made by senior personnel at the Sheriff's Office
related to their improper release of an inmate, During the
presentation to the Council, accusations were made implying that
Clerk staffhad something to do with that improper release. Those
comments, and others made by the Sheriff's Office were false. While
personal niatlers prevent me from, presenting the facts to the Public
Safety Coordinating Council this week, please consider this a formal
request to present before the Board of County Commissioners about
this issue in particular and the technological relationship we have
with our critninaIjustice partners in general,
I look forward to providing the full story to the Public Safety
Coordinating Council, the Board of County Commissioners and the
public we serve.
Cordially.
Joseph E. Smith
Clerk of the Circuit Court
