Outlaw Karen L Smith; Daniel Mcintyre; Charlotte Lombard; veggiegator@yahoo.com FW: Proposed park closings Follow up Flagged Faye: This email comes from a friend of the county and the environment. I am challenged to think of the rational of this proposed action. We (SLC) have approached equally difficult matters and found alternative solutions to which I feel our state legislators should explore. If we close the proposed sites I assure you the region and the state will see a marked loss of tourism dollars because these are the places most tourists visit when in the area. I request a review of the proposal and a possible resolution (if we can encourage our sister counties to participate) arguing against this proposal by the state legislature i.e. DEP etc. Respectfull y, Chris Dzadovsky 81. From: Kristen Nowicki [veggiegator@yahoo.com] Sent: Monday, January 31, 201111:57 PM 1 To:. Chris Dzadovsky Subject: Proposed park closings Regarding the proposed closing of 53 state parks by DEP, these 4 are In the 'Treasure Coast" area: -Atlantic Ridge Preserve State Park, Stuart -Savannas Preserve State Park, Jensen Beach eSt Lucie Inlet Preserve State Park, Stuart eSt Sebastian River Preserve State Park, Fellsmere J don't know why St Lucie Inlet Preserve is listed as being located in Stuart, because I'm pretty sure thats PSL (it is almost across from the Civic Center on US1). A few of the other cities on the full list are incorrect, so it is possible that it was a mIstake. Regardless, a resolution from St Lucie County to support not closing the parks would be great! think that Martin and Indian River would also like the support from their neighbor. My thoughts on closing the "Preserve" State Parks (the smaller ones with few facilities and no on-site staff) are that if they are not picked up by the Counties or Cities, then they would not be monitored in any way and become full of trash whIch WIll end up in our waterways. Or kids will get into trouble there, creating a sense of "the woods are bad" and ruin the good things about nature for the rest of the kids (and adults). Some of the parks on the list are ones with full staff and facilities, tours, visitors centers, trails, and natural resources worth educating others about The full list of the 53 parks is here in this article from Audubon. http://aud ubonoffforidanews.org/?p=6830 Thanks for your help, Kristen Nowicki, A1CP http://www.linkedin.com/in/kristenplans -~""'''''Wf''''~~_ Please Note: Florida has very broad public f,,)cords laws.
