Minutes of Meeting
March 9, 2011
Convened 10:12 a.m. ____________________Adjourned 11:45 a.m.
The meeting of the Property and Homeowners Association meeting was held
Wednesday, February 9, 2011 in Conference Room 3 of the St. Lucie County
Administration Annex Building, 2300 Virginia Avenue, Fort Pierce, Florida 34982.

ITEM #1 – CALL TO ORDER
The meeting was called to order at 10:12 a.m. Commissioner Lewis led the Association
in the Pledge of Allegiance followed by self-introductions from the Association
representatives and public attendees.
ITEM #2 – APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Dianne Andrews made the motion to approve the minutes of February 9, 2011. Henry
Schmitz seconded the motion and the minutes passed unanimously by voice vote.

ITEM #3 – ST. LUCIE COUNTY SHERIIFF’S REPORT
No report was available at this time.
ITEM #4 – ST. LUCIE COUNTY FIRE DISTRICT REPORT
Catherine Chaney reported that the burn ban for St. Lucie County was still in effect.
She gave a brief update on Fire District issues and concerns.
ITEM #5 – GUEST
Doug Coward –
Executive Vice President of Renewable Energy Strategies
Mr. Coward introduced himself to the group and gave a brief update on his current
activities. He continued with a slide presentation showing a Navigant chart on
Renewable Energy Alternatives.
Mr. Coward gave a wealth of information on renewable energy and solar energy that will
be a tremendous help to our society in the future. Some of the things mentioned were:
? Germany is leading in solar energy
? St. Lucie County Solar Loan Fund
? Indian River State College Solar Project, Etc.
? Millions of dollars in grants and rebates are available
? Energy Performance Contracting
? Public/Private Partnerships
? TCERDA Research Park (St. Lucie County – Ben DeVries)
? General Electric Company
? Oakridge National Lab Company
He stated that the underlining of this recession is that it made us more efficient.
There was discussion on solar and renewable energy – solar panels on roofs and tax
exemptions.
Another area of discussion was Algae Harvesting and usage (Indian River County).
ITEM #6 – OLD BUSINESS

ITEM #7 – NEW BUSINESS
After discussion a decision was made to invite Kathryn Hensley of the St. Lucie County
School Board to be the speaker at the next Property and Homeowners meeting and
give an update on current School Board issues.
ITEM #8 – ADJOURNMENT
Having no further business to discuss, Commissioner Lewis thanked the group for their
participation and attendance. The meeting was adjourned.
