The possibility of having IRSC students team up with the St. Lucie County Historic
Commission and Historic Preservation Officer in an effort to update, prioritize and designate
properties on the Florida Mater Site File as Historic Sites was discussed. Other possibilities
discussed for these students included the opportunity to help create environmental

structures. Mr. Steele will follow up with the IRSC staff person who expressed interest in the
program in order to get this effort underway.

B. Robinson House update

As a follow up to the discussion in the prior meeting Mr. Heffelfinger opened up a discussion
on the Robinson House. Ms. Monokian informed the committee thathe March 11, 2011
Foreclosure Docket indicated non-participation in mediation. Ms. Lucke stated that the
County had no record of any changes in the status of the Robinson House to date. Ms.
Bennett stated that the real estate agent would be willing to sale the hdirse for $200,000 if a
buyer could be found. ~

Mr. Heffelfinger asked if there were comments about the newly adopted Historic Mission
Statement, "Representing the generations to come by honoring the generations of the past."
No one commented and the discussion was closed

D. Method of Determining Historic Designatior`~
~
Ms. Wood summa`Fized that the typical process for°getting a historic property designated is
to have a consultant conduct a survey of possil~~historic properties in a given area and by
determining historic districts to be placed an the Florida Master Site File that is maintained
by the State. Once properties have been determined to have historic significance the
Historic Commission v~ould then work vuith the property owner in order to get the property
designated on the local register. It is possible for the Board of County Commissioners to
designate~a property without consent from the owner, but this might not be an action the
Board would be willing to take'
