SUBJECT: Permission to accept the 2011 Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Local
Solicitation.
BACKGROUND: The U.S. Department of Justice/Office of Justice Programs/Bureau of Justice
Assistance (IJSDOJ/OJP/BJA) has awarded St. Lucie County the 2011 Edward Byrne
Memorial Justice Assistance Local Solicitation Grant in the amount of $82,755.00.
These funds will be split 50/50 between the Ft. Pierce Police Department ($41,377.50)
and the St. Lucie County Sheriffs Office ($41,377.50) to carry out their local law
enforcement programs. JAG funds may be used for state and local initiatives, technical
assistance, training, personnel, equipment, supplies, contractual support, and criminal
justice information systems. There are no matching funds required.
