Rev'. ~~nd approval of Minutes Mr. H L~ek called for a motion to approve the minutes from the July 19, 2011 meeting. Mr. Heff,~~ln ~` moved that~the minutes b~ approved; Mr. Connolly seconded the motion and it passed ~~rtimously. 2. Items for Consideration or Action A. Proclamatior~.recognizing Lucille Rieley Rights Ms. Wood, Historic Preservation Officer read and asked the Historical Commission to consider the proclarYration recognizing Ms. Lucille Rieley Rights for her many contributions to the historical and cultural heritage of St. Lucie County. After expressing his appreciation of the proclamation to recognize Ms. Rights, Mr. Connolly moved that the motion be forwarded to the Board of County Commissioners for adoption, Mr. Moses seconded the motion and it was passed unanimously by the Commission. B. Armed Occupation Act Coquina Rock Fireplace The Historical Commission discussed a potential maintenance plan (maintaining any overgrowth at least once a year) for the Coquina Rock Fireplace and the possibility of the Historic Commission or other groups like the Historical Society and/or Master Gardeners to 2011-10-18 Historical Commission Meeting Draft MinsPage 1 of 2 1 2 3 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 29 help maintain the site. Mr. Moses agreed to draft a letter to be approved by the Historical Commission for the Chair's signature to send to the owner regarding a plan to help maintain the site surrounding the fireplace. The Commission also discussed the purchase of a plaque to be placed next to the site notifying others that may not be aware of its existence. C. Approve Meeting Schedule for 2012 Mr. Moses made a motion to approve the 2012 meeting schedule; Mr. Heffelfinger seconded the motion and it was approved unanimously as referenced below. Board members along with staff were concerned about the need to post the 41 clearing as a public' meeting, as this could cause unwanted disturbance to the current 42 tenants. ~° 43 44 B. Condemnation of Robinson House 45 46 A brief discussion took place regarding the foreclosure lawsuit and demolition of the William 47 Robinson House. Kara Wood, Historic Preservation Officer, informed the Board that the 48 foreclosure lawsuit was dismissed, which would allow the County to condemn the house and 49 demolish it. According to this Historic Preservation Ordinance, the Historical Commission is 50 invited to make comments to the Board of County Commissioners regarding the proposed 51 demolition of the historic structure. 2012-01-17 Historical Commission Meeting Draft MinsPage 1 of 2 1 Members wanted to know if any parts of the house could be salvaged before it was 2 demolished to preserve some of the original historic features of the home. Since there was 3 no quorum, members of the Board decided to email any concerns regarding the demolition 4 of the William Robinson house to Ms. Wood by the end of the week for inclusion in 5 correspondence to Code Enforcement. 6 7 3.
