Adjournment The meeting of the Property and Homeowners Association meeting was held Wednesday, March 14, 2012 in Conference Room 3 of the St. Lucie County Administration Annex Building, 2300 Virginia Avenue, Fort Pierce, Florida 34982. Members Present: Henry Schmitz, Portofino Shores HOA Kathy Barrett, Sandpiper Bay HOA Tony Roach, Lakeforest Pointe HOA Betty Anne Hodur, SandHill Shores HOA Linda Bollman, SandHill Shores HOA Roger Bollman, SandHill Shores HOA Ron Knaggs, Queens Cove, POA Craig Mundt, North Beach Association Johnathan Ferguson, Law Office Arlene Goodman, White City FMP Also Present: Commissioner Tod Mowery, Chairman Suzie Caron, Executive Aide to Commissioner Tod Mowery. Michael Brillhart, SLC Business Development & Concurrency Deputy Glenn Hoffman, St. Lucie County Sheriff's Office Sherry McCorkle, Office of Congressman Tom Rooney Liz Martin, Aide to Commissioner Hutchinson ITEM #1 -CALL TO ORDER The meeting was called to order at 10:11 a.m. Commissioner Mowery led the Association in the Pledge of Allegiance followed by self-introductions from the Association representatives and public attendees. ITEM #2 - ST. LUCIE COUNTY SHERIIFF'S REPORT ST. LUCIE COUNTY Deputy Glenn Hoffman gave a report on activities in the County. 1. Deputy Hoffman provided a Crime Prevention and Grand Parent Scam Bulletin responding to several calls from TD Bank in Lakewood Park. 2. Lakewood Park -Be Aware of theft of marine equipment on boats. 3. Indian River Estates has had several car burglaries over the weekend to unlocked cars- Crime of Opportunity. 4. COP Citizens Operations Program -Visit Sheriff's Office Website to download application if interested, they need volunteers. ITEM #3 -FIRE DISTRICT REPORT Catherine Chaney from the Fire District was unavailable for the meeting. ITEM #5 -GUEST SPEAKER Commissioner Mowery introduced Michael Brillhart, St. Lucie County Business Development & Concurrency Manager and asked him to give an update on 2012 Legislative Issues. Mr. Brillhart passed out informational sheet (see attachment). He explained the process in which these items are addressed: If the item is passed, they are signed off by the Governor (Governor has until June 30, 2012 to sign the bills) and then they become law. Mr. Brillhart reviewed each of the highlighted issues and the impacts to our county and agreed to attend the next meeting to give an update on which issues passed/failed to date. Mr. Brillhart addressed several questions from the HOA members clarifying any misconceptions as these bills can be difficult to understand. Commissioner Mowery had to leave the meeting and Susie Caron; Commissioner Mowery's Aide continued the meeting thanking Mr. Brillhart for his time and very informative presentation. ITEM #6 -OLD BUSINESS No old business. ITEM #7 -NEW BUSINESS Tony Roach requested we have a Foreclosure Seminar targeting the HOA's issues as they pertain to foreclosures and the process on how to deal with the issues. It was requested that Michael Brillhart return with an update on the Legislative Issues. ITEM #8 -ADJOURNMENT Having no further business, Susie Caron, Aide to Commissioner Tod Mowery thanked the group for their participation and attendance. A motion was made to adjourn.
