boundaries for the proposed district. The presentation included pictures of some of the key
residential and commercial structures that would be representative of the characteristics of a
Historic District in White City. It also depicted scenarios for proposed boundaries within the
district. The proposed boundaries would either expand to include key structures located
immediately outside of White City or encompass an area (surrounding West Midway Rd.,
west to Palmetto Ave, north to Augusta St., east to Oleander Ave and south to W. 3rd St.)
within White City.
A discussion among staff and Commission members ensued r

Chairman, Hayek expressed his concern about members wanting to resign because they
feel they lack the resources and power needed to take action when trying to preserve
"Historic Jewels" such as the William Robinson House.
ANNOUNCEMENTS
Kara Wood announced that this will be her last Historical Commission meeting as County
staff because her last day of employment with the County is December 14, 2012. She
introduced Diana Waite, Senior Planner, as an additional staff resource who has a lot of
back ground knowledge in the history of St. Lucie County and was involved in St. Lucie
County's 2003 Historic Survey. The final decision on designating the new Historic
Preservation Officer will more than likely be made by the new Plapning Manager.
Next meeting date: January 15, 2013 at 4:00 PM
The meeting adjourned at 5:00 PM.
