Staff reported thaf at the Si~ptember 4, 2012 Board of County Commissioners meeting the
Board approved the cJelrlolition of the historically designated William Robinson House on the
grounds of neglect. Per"mit # 1209-0032 to demolish the home was issued September 21,
2012 and finalized on September 28, 2012 by St. Lucie County Inspector David Johnson.
Chairman Hayek mentioned that he was given permission by the demolition company
(L.E.B. Demolition & Consulting Contractors Inc.) to salvage material from the home during
demolition.
B. White City Historic District
Vice Chairman Heffelfinger did a presentation on the Historical Commission's "Walking
Tour" of White City. The purpose of the tour was to speak with White City residents to get
background knowledge of the historic structures located in the area, get a feel of the

1 residents' thoughts of a proposed historic district and to identify logically appropriate
2 boundaries for the proposed district. The presentation included pictures of some of the key
3 residential and commercial structures that would be representative of the characteristics of a
4 Historic District in White City. It also depicted scenarios for proposed boundaries within the
5 district. The proposed boundaries would either expand to include key structures located
6 immediately outside of White City or encompass an area (surrounding West Midway Rd.,
7 west to Palmetto Ave, north to Augusta St., east to Oleander Ave and south to W. 3rd St.)
8 within White City.
9
10 A discussion among staff and Commission members ensued regarding the logical aspects
11 of expanding the boundaries of the proposed district to certain streets within White City, in
12 order to include significant structures that lie within areas, (fiat do not speak to the
13 characteristics of a historic district. Staff concluded that a mare logical approach would be
14 to keep the boundaries of the historic district within `ttie area that speaks to the
15 characteristics and structure styles in White City. Other`hfstoric dwellings and landmarks
16 located outside of those boundaries could be designa4~d,tlistoric rather than expand the
17 boundaries to include historic sites that would not speak to the characteristics, ofthe district.
