VISION STATEMENT
By 2017, the St. Lucie County Tourist Development Council will provide a greater impact in promoting
St. Lucie as a top Florida destination for Eco/Adventure/Agri Tourism; amateur/professional sports; and
other known assets, allowing for increased overnight stays.

1. CALL TO ORDER:
Commissioner Dzadovsky called the meeting to order at 1:34 PM.
2. ROLL CALL:

3. SELF INTRODUCTION OF GUESTS:
Attending guests identified themselves.
4. APPROVAL. OF MINUTES:
The minutes from January 8, 2014 were approved
5. PUBLIC COMMENT:

No public comment made at this time.
6. FINANCIAL REPORT & WEB REPORT:
Charlotte Bireley reported that December 2013 revenue was up 12% compared to
December 2012. Year to date revenue is up 17%.
Charlotte Bireley presented the Monthly Expenses vs. Revenue Comparison Report
for Fiscal Year 2012, 2013, and up to December 2014. Report attached.
Charlotte Bireley provided the TDC with a report on the activity of the St. Lucie
County Tourism web site. Website activity report attached.
Charlotte Bireley presented the January E-mail Marketing Results, Reports
attached.
7, LAWNWOOD FIELD EXPANSION UPDATE:
Edward Matthews presented the Lawnwood Field Expansion Update, Discussion
ensued in regards to Vinny-Ball and the New York Mets Spring Training. Katherine
Barbieri explained the bid process to the TDC. Presentation attached.
8. SUNRISE THEATRE PRESENTATION:
Ann Satterlee and John Wilkes introduced the Sunrise Theatre Presentation.

9. TOURIST TAX COLLECTIONS & REPORTING — FOLLOW UP:
Charlotte Bireley presented a summary of accounts and collections regarding the
Tourist Development Tax. Presentation and report attached.
10. OTHER BUSINESS:
Commissioner Dzadovsky informed the TDC of the March meeting being canceled
and the next TDC Meeting would be held in April.
11. PUBLIC COMMENT:
Laura O'Brien from the Port St. Lucie Civic Center spoke of the weightlifting event
that was held with 500 in attendance, the boat show with 60 exhibitors this weekend
and the national car club event next weekend.
Tom Colucci from the Treasure Coast Sports Commission mentioned upcoming
swimming and baseball events. He also discussed the Florida Sports Foundation

will be submitting two bills to the State of Florida to finance the Sports Commission
and the Sunshine State Games, Vice Mayor Bartz made a motion to support the
Treasure Coast Sports Commission being funded by state revenue. Chris Egan
seconded the motion. Motion passed unanimously.

A RESOLUTION PROCLAIMING MAY 3, 2014THROUGH MAY 11, 2014
AS "TRAVEL AND TOURISM WEEK" IN ST. LUCIE COUNTY, FLORIDA
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of St. Lucie County, Florida, has made the
following determinations;
1. Travel to and within the United States provides significant economic benefits for the
nation, generating $2 trillion in economic output, with $855.4 billion spent directly by domestic
and international travelers that spurred an additional $1.1 trillion in other industries.
2. The travel industry is among the top 10 industries in the 48 states and supports 14.6
million jobs, including 7.7 million directly in the travel industry and 6.9 million in other
industries; with 1 out of every 9 jobs in the U.S, depending on travel and tourism.
3. Tourism is the state of Florida's number one industry, responsible for welcoming
94.7 million visitors in 2013 that spent more than $71,8 billion, generating 23 percent of the
state's sales tax revenue and employing over 1 million Floridians.
4. The travel industry supports the interests of St. Lucie County, contributing to our
employment, economic prosperity, international trade and relations, peace, understanding and
goodwill.
5. Travel can serve as a catalyst to help move the national and local economy forward.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of St. Lucie County,
Florida:
I. This Board does hereby proclaim May 3-11, 2014 as "TRAVEL AND TOURISM
WEEK" in St. Lucie County, Florida and urges the citizens of St. Lucie County to join in this
special observance with appropriate events, commemorations and festivals.
