TOURIST DEVELOPMENT COUNCIL MEETING

1. CALL TO ORDER: Commissioner Dzadovsky called the meeting to order at 1:38
PM.
2. ROLL CALL: Jennifer Garrity called roll.
3. SELF INTRODUCTION OF GUESTS:
Attending guests identified themselves.
4. APPROVAL OF MINUTES
The minutes from February 12, 2014 were approved.
5. PUBLIC COMMENT:
No public comments.
6. FINANCIAL REPORT & WEB REPORT:
Jennifer Garrity reported that February 2014 revenue was up 15% compared to
February 2013. Jennifer Garrity did not report on the revenue for March due to not
receiving confirmation from St. Lucie County Tax Collector on collected Tourist Tax
for April.

There were no questions on the Profit & Loss report or the Monthly Expenses vs
Revenue Comp Report.
Jennifer Garrity provided the TDC with a report on the activity of the St. Lucie
County Tourism web site for the month of March and April. Website activity report
attached.
Jennifer Garrity provided the TDC with the E-Mail Marketing results for the “Watch
the NY Mets Swing into Action” email campaign.
7. WEB CAM UPDATE:
Katherine Barbieri gave an update on the issues that the City of Fort Pierce’s Legal
Department had with the contract from the vendor. Commissioner Alexander made a
motion to move forward with a different location for the web cams if the issues with
the City of Fort Pierce’s Legal Department cannot be resolved by the next scheduled
TDC meeting. Chris Egan seconded the motion. Motion passed unanimously.
8. FIND SPOIL ISLAND PROJECT:
Commissioner Dzadovsky spoke about the FIND Spoil Island Project that is
administrated through Department of Environmental Protection. The project is
established to aid in the enhancement and preservation of the Indian River Lagoon
Spoil Islands. Billy Gibson from Motorized Kayak Adventures spoke about the Spoil
Islands and their environmental importance to the Indian River. Chris Egan made a
motion to start conversations to explore the funding options for creating a new water
resistant brochure of the Spoil Islands. Linda Bartz seconded the motion. Motion
passed unanimously.
9. 2014 NATIONAL TOURISM & TRAVEL:
Commissioner Dzadovsky spoke about Tourism & Travel Week and the
proclamations that were presented at the City of Fort Pierce, City of Port St. Lucie,
and the St. Lucie County BOCC meeting.
10. OTHER BUSINESS:
Commissioner Dzadovsky spoke about Jupiter being named one of the top small
cities in Florida, which was based on their Eco Tourism opportunities. Commissioner
Dzadovsky has requested that Charlotte Bireley look into the stipulations to get St.
Lucie County included on this list in the Cities Journal’s “Top 16 Small Cities in
Florida.”
