TOURIST DEVELOPMENT COUNCIL MEETING

1. CALL TO ORDER: Commissioner Dzadovsky called the meeting to order at 1:33
PM.
2. ROLL CALL: Ja’net Pentz called roll.
3. GUESTS INTRODUCED THEMSELVES:
Guests introduced themselves.
4. APPROVAL OF MINUTES
The minutes from November 12, 2014 were approved.
5. PUBLIC COMMENT:
No public comments.
6. FINANCIAL REPORT & WEB REPORT:

Charlotte Bireley reported that October 2014 is the first month of the new fiscal year
and the bed tax revenue that was collected was $36,505.00, which is 3% percent
down from last year October 2013, but is slightly higher than what we budgeted
$33,250.
Charlotte Bireley reported the P and L for the month of October.
She further highlighted that the expense vs. revenue report for the month of
October was middle of the road in comparison to the expenses and revenues during
this time last year.
Charlotte reported an increase in website activity of the St. Lucie County Tourism
web site for the month of November also in comparison to prior months there was
also an increase. She also reported that the bounce rate and length of time spent on
the website was about the same.
7. IRSC Customer Service 5-Star Hospitality Training Program Update:
Emily McHugh first gave a background on how the customer service 5 star came
into existence and the history of the program.
She continued with highlighting the course content and how the information is
beneficial to the students and the tourism industry.
Emily ended her presentation with giving dates of the next class and gave ways to
further support the class in the future.
8. Fort Pierce Authentic Tours Activity & Update:
Libby Woodruff started her presentation with a history of the Fort Pierce
Authentic Tours and how it was started.
Her presentation also included information on how they have stream lined the
information and made it more user friendly. In the presentation information was given
on their new Facebook, YouTube, and Website initiative. The presentation also
highlighted how FPAT is streamlining ways to get out to the community and become
better known.
9. Other Business:
Commissioner Dzadovsky stated that he and Charlotte have started moving
forward in identifying the current assets that are beneficial to the ecotourism
resources. Some of the resources that were mentioned were waterways along
Becker Road and Prima Vista. It was further discussed that before other entities can
be included in the development of these assets a lot of investigation work needs to be
on our behalf. Commissioner Dzadovsky concluded that this may take an extended

period of time to completely identify what’s available due to the amount of resources
available.
