Dear Sir:
The roof covering of subject residence is proposed to be changed from asphalt shingles
to 5V crimp metal panels. The purpose of this letter is to determine wind uplift forces
and specify fastening pattern of new plywood sheathing and metal roof panels.
The subject property is located in Exposure C area. The roof has 3/12 slope and mean
roof height is 14 ft. As per 2010 Florida Bldg. Code; ASCE 7-10, 165 MPH ultimate wind
speed for Risk Category II in Exposure C area, using Wind Load-Factor of 0.6 for ASD
the wind pressures are determined as follows:
Field Pi = -40 psf / Perimeter (4' wide) P2 = -70 psf / Corner (4'x4') P3 = -100 psf.
The installation of new roof panels consists of ASTM D 226 Type II, 30-lbs felt fastened
by using 11 ga 11/4' ring-shanked nails spaced at 6" o.c. along seams and 12" o.c.
staggered two rows in field and 4" o.c. in 5'-wide gable-end and 4'-wide, perimeter and
corner zones.
As per Gulf Coast Supply, 26 Ga., 24" wide 5V crimp Roof Panels on Wood Decks
(NOA #14-0520.02); the design pressures of -108.5 psf is achieved by fastening the
panels using #10-11/2" long hex-head screws with WSW washers spaced at 12" o.c. (see
Method 1). In perimeter and corner zones, the max. uplift resistance of -156.5 psf is
achieved by using #10-11/2" long hex-head screws spaced at 6" o.c. (Method 2).
As per Method 1; the 5V metal panels in field (P1 . 1 e will be fastened at 12" o.c.
along and across the panels. As per Method 2, two row Panels in perimeter (P2) and
corner zones (P3) are required to be secured at 6" o.c. s _ing and 12" o.c. across
the panels (see pg. 4&5/5).
Therefore, this letter is to certify that Gulf Coast Supply, 26 a., , Ide 5V crimp Roof
Panels on Wood Decks (NOA #14-0520.02), installed as sta'. d move, conform to
requirements of 2010 Florida Building Code, which specifies 1 AIVk ' Itimate wind
velocityfor Risk Category II in Exposure C area.

SCOPE:
This NOA is being issued under the applicable rules and regulations governing the use of construction materials. The
documentation submitted has been reviewed and accepted by Miami-Dade County RER-Product Control Section to be
used in Miami Dade County and other areas where allowed by the Authority Having Jurisdiction(AHJ).
This NOA shall not be valid after the expiration date stated below. The Miami-Dade County Product Control Section
(In Miami Dade County)and/or the AHJ(in areas other than Miami Dade County)reserve the right to have this product
or material tested for quality assurance purposes. If this product or material fails to perform in the accepted manner,the
manufacturer will incur the expense of such testing and the AHJ may immediately revoke,modify,or suspend the use
of such product or material within their jurisdiction. RER reserves the right to revoke this acceptance,if it is
determined by Miami-Dade County Product Control Section that this product or material fails to meet the requirements
of the applicable building code.
This product is approved as described herein,and has been designed to comply with the Florida Building Code
including the High Velocity Hurricane Zone of the Florida Building Code.
DESCRIPTION: 26 ga.Coastal 5V Roof Panel
LABELING: Each unit shall bear a permanent label with the manufacturer's name or logo,city,state and following
statement: "Miami-Dade County Product Control Approved",unless otherwise noted herein.
RENEWAL of this NOA shall be considered after a renewal application has been filed and there has been no change
in the applicable building code negatively affecting the performance of this product.
TERMINATION of this NOA will occur after the expiration date or if there has been a revision or change in the
materials,use,and/or manufacture of the product or process.Misuse of this NOA as an endorsement of any product,for
sales,advertising or any other purposes shall automatically terminate this NOA.Failure to comply with any section of
this NOA shall be cause for termination and removal of NOA.
ADVERTISEMENT: The NOA number preceded by the words Miami-Dade County, Florida, and followed by the
expiration date may be displayed in advertising literature. If any portion of the NOA is displayed,then it shall be done
in its entirety.
INSPECTION: A copy of this entire NOA shall be provided to the user by the manufacturer or its distributors and
shall be available for inspection at the job site at the request of the Building Official.

Deck Attachment: In accordance with applicable Building Code, but in no case shall it be less than 8d ring
shank nails spaced 6" o.c. In reroofing, where the deck is less than 19/32" thick (Minimum
15/32")the above attachment method must be in addition to existing attachment.
Underlayment: Minimum underlayment shall be an ASTM D 226 Type II installed with a minimum 4"side-
lap and 6"end-laps.Underlayment shall be fastened with corrosion resistant tin-caps and 12
gauge 1 '/4"annular ring-shank nails,spaced 6"o.c.at all laps and two staggered rows 12"
o.c. in the field of the roll. Or,any approved underlayment having a current NOA.
Fire Barrier: Any approved fire barrier having a current NOA. Refer to a current fire directory listing for
fire ratings of this roofing system assembly as well as the location of the fire barrier within
the assembly. See Limitation# 1.
Valleys: Valley construction shall be in compliance with Roofing Application Standard RAS 133 and
with Gulf Coast Supply&Manufacturing LLC's current published installation instructions.
Metal Panels and Install the"26 ga. Coastal 5V-Crimp Roof Panel" and accessories in compliance with Gulf
Accessories: Coast Supply&Manufacturing LLC's current,published installation instructions and details.
Flashing,penetrations,valley construction and other details shall be constructed in
compliance with the minimum requirements provided in Roofing Application Standards RAS
133.
Panel fasteners shall be#9-15 x 1-%"self drilling, self tapping,hex head screws with sealing
washer of sufficient length to penetrate through the sheathing a minimum of 3/16 inch.
Fasteners shall be installed at a maximum spacing as listed in Table A below parallel to the
slope. Fasteners shall be installed at a maximum of 12"o.c. at panel edge. See detail herein.

LIMITATIONS
1. Fire classification is not part of this acceptance;refer to a current Approved Roofing Materials Directory for fire
ratings of this product.
2. The maximum designed pressure listed herein shall be applicable to all roof pressure zones(i.e. field,perimeters,
and corners).Neither rational analysis,nor extrapolation shall be permitted for enhanced fastening at enhanced
pressure zones(i.e. perimeters,extended corners and corners).
3. Panel shall be roll formed in continuous lengths from eave to ridge. Maximum lengths shall be described in the
Roofing Application Standard RAS 133.
4. All panels shall be permanently labeled with the manufacturer's name and/or logo, and the following statement:
"Miami-Dade County Product Control Approved" or with the Miami-Dade County Product Control Seal as seen
below. All clips shall be permanently labeled with the manufacturer's name and/or logo,and/or model.

The re-roofing specifications for flat roof areas of the subject residence are reviewed by
myself. The purpose of this letter is to determine the wind uplift pressures and enhanced
spacing of the mechanical fasteners.
The one-story-high property is located in Exposure C area. The flat roof areas consist of 1x6
wood slats and 5/8" plywood decks with positive drainage. The roof mean height is 15 % As
per the 2010 Florida Building Code, ASCE 7-10, 170 MPH ultimate wind velocity for Risk
Category II in Exposure C area, using Wind Load Factor ofon" for ASD; the wind pressures
are determined as follows:
Field: P1 = - 44 Psf / Perimeter 4'wide : Pi = - 74 Psf / fforner,. 4'x4' : P3 = -111 PSf
The proposed CertainTeed Modified Bitumen Roof System overn° oecks (NOA #14-0224.03)
consists of mechanically attached 75-Ibs GlasBase base sheet, folio ed by torched-down
FlintLastic GTA modified bitumen cap sheet.
The system max. design pressure of -60 psf (Deck 1I, Syst.E(3), pa Limitation #7) is
specified by tin-tagging the base sheet with 11 ga., 1'/4" long ring-sh nke roofing nails,
spaced at 811o.c. along the laps and 8"o.c., three rows staggered in mid-s
It is required that, as per RAS 117 in order to meet the actual roof pressure , t se sheet
is tin-tagged to the existing wood decks in the following enhanced pattern:

1. Fire classification is not part of this acceptance; refer to a current Approved Roofing Materials Directory for fire
ratings of this product.
2. Insulation may be installed in multiple layers. The first layer shall be attached in compliance with Product Control
Approval guidelines. All other layers shall be adhered in a full mopping of approved asphalt applied within the
EVT range and at a rate of 20-40 lbs./sq.,or mechanically attached using the fastening pattern of the top layer
3. All standard panel sizes are acceptable for mechanical attachment. When applied in approved asphalt,panel size
shall be 4'x 4'maximum.
4. An overlay and/or recovery board insulation panel is required on all applications over closed cell foam insulations
when the base sheet is fully mopped. If no recovery board is used the base sheet shall be applied using spot
mopping with approved asphalt, 12" diameter circles, 24" o.c.; or strip mopped 8" ribbons in three rows, one at
each side lap and one down the center of the sheet allowing a continuous area of ventilation. Encircling of the
strips is not acceptable. A 6" break shall be placed every 12' in each ribbon to allow cross ventilation. Asphalt
application of either system shall be at a minimum rate of 12 lbs./sq.
Note: Spot attached systems shall be limited to a maximum design pressure of-45 psf.
5. Fastener spacing for insulation attachment is based on a Minimum Characteristic Force(F')value of 2751bf.,as
tested in compliance with Testing Application Standard TAS 105. If the fastener value,as field-tested,are below
2751bf. insulation attachment shall not be acceptable.
6. Fastener spacing for mechanical attachment of anchoribase sheet or membrane attachment is based on a minimum
fastener resistance value in conjunction with the maximum design value listed within a specific system. Should
the fastener resistance be less than that required,as determined by the Building Official,a revised fastener spacing,
prepared,signed and sealed by a Florida registered Professional Engineer,Registered Architect,or Registered
Roof Consultant may be submitted. Said revised fastener spacing shall utilize the withdrawal resistance value
taken from Testing Application Standards TAS 105 and calculations in compliance with Roofing Application
Standard RAS 117.
7. Perimeter and corner areas shall comply with the enhanced uplift pressure requirements of these areas. Fastener
densities shall be increased for both insulation and base sheet as calculated in compliance with Roofing
Application Standard RAS 117. Calculations prepared, signed and sealed by a Florida registered Professional
Engineer, Registered Architect, or Registered Roof Consultant (When this limitation is specifically referred
within this NOA,General Limitation#9 will not be applicable.)
8. All attachment and sizing of perimeter nailers,metal profile,and/or flashing termination designs shall conform to
Roofing Application Standard RAS 111 and applicable wind load requirements.
9. The maximum designed pressure limitation listed shall be applicable to all roof pressure zones(i.e. field,
perimeters,and corners).Neither rational analysis,nor extrapolation shall be permitted for enhanced fastening at
enhanced pressure zones(i.e.perimeters,extended corners and corners). (When this limitation is specifically
referred within this NOA,General Limitation 97 will not be applicable.)
10. All products listed herein shall have a quality assurance audit in accordance with the Florida Building Code and
Rule 61G20-3 of the Florida Administrative Code.
