5.6.1.1 Wind Resistance for Underlayment Systems in Foam-On Tile Applications: FRSA/TRI April 2012 (0412) does not
address wind uplift resistance of all underlayment systems beneath foam-on tile systems, where the underlayment
forms part of the load-path. The following wind uplift limitations apply to direct-deck underlayment systems that are
not addressed in FRSA/TRI April 2012(0412)and are used in foam-on tile applications. Maximum Design Pressure is
the result of testing for wind load resistance based on allowable wind loads, and reflects the ultimate passing
pressure divided by 2 (the 2 to 1 margin of safety per FBC 1504.9 has already been applied). Refer to FBC 1609 for
determination of design wind pressures.
5.6.1.1.1 Maximum Design Pressure=-315 psf.
Deck: Structural concrete to meet project requirements to satisfaction of AHJ.
Primer: ASTM D41
Underlayment: Tri-Built Tile and Metal HT Underlayment.
5.6.1.1.2 All other direct-deck, adhered TRI-BUILT underlayment systems beneath foam-on tile systems carry a Maximum
Design Pressure of-45 psf.

6.1 TRI-BUILT Roof Underlayments shall be installed in accordance with Allied Building Products Corp. / TRI-BUILT
published installation requirements subject to the Limitations set forth in Section 5 herein and the specifics noted
below.
6.2 Re-fasten any loose decking panels, and check for protruding nail heads. Sweep the substrate thoroughly to remove
any dust and debris prior to application, and prime the substrate(if applicable).
6.3 Tri-Built Granular-P Shingle Underlayment and Tri-Built Tile and Metal HT Underlayment:
6.3.1 Shall be installed in compliance with the codified requirements for ASTM D1970 underlayment in FBC Sections 1507
for the type of prepared roof covering to be installed.
6.3.2 For non-tile applications:
6.3.2.1 Back-nail selvage edge seams in accordance with the Allied Building Products Corp./TRI-BUILT Back-Nailing Guide.
Nails shall be corrosion resistant,it gauge ring-shank type with a minimum 1-inch diameter metal disk or Simplex-
type metal cap nail,at a minimum rate of 12"o.c. The head lap membrane is to cover the area being back-nailed.
6.3.2.2 All seal-lap seams(selvage laps)must be firmly .

6.3.3 For the applications(Til-Bullt Tile and Metal HT Underlayment only):
6.3.3.1 Reference is made to FRSA/TRI April 2012(0412)Installation Manual-and Table 1 herein.
6.3.3.2 Tile shall be loaded and staged in a manner that prevents tile slippage and/or damage to the underlayment. Refer to
Polyglass published requirements for the staging.
6.3.3.3 Battens and/or Counter-battens,as required by the file manufacturer and FRSA/TRI April 2012(04-12)must be used
on all roof slopes greater than 7:12. Precautions should be taken as needed, such as the use of battens or sail-
boards,to prevent tile sliding and/or damage to the underlayment during the loading process.
6.3.3.4 The minimum cure time after installation of self-adhering membranes and before loading of roofing tiles is forty-
eight(48)hours
6.4 Tri-Built Sand-R SA Shingle Underlayment:
6.4.1 Shall be installed in compliance with the requirements for ASTM D1970 underlayment in FBC Sections 1507 for the
type of prepared roof covering to be installed.
6.4.2 For non-tile applications:
6.4.2.1 While priming is optional,Allied Building Products Corp. recommends priming the deck if the final roof cover is not
slated for installation within 24 hours.
6.4.2.2 Apply sheet parallel to the roof edge. Roll out approximately 10 ft of membrane and peel back the first 3 ft of release
film.
6.4.2.3 Adhere the exposed part to the substrate and unroll the remaining membrane as far as possible.
6.4.2.4 Once the entire length of membrane is in place, peel-off the release film diagonally while holding the membrane
tight. Firmly roll the membrane into place to achieve a bond.
6.4.2.5 Horizontal seams should be minimum 3-inches, configured to shed water. Vertical seams should be 6-inches and
staggered not less than 2-ft from vertical seams in the course below. All over-granule end-laps shall be sealed using
either heat-welding or hot air welding techniques.
6.4.2.6 When installing at slopes above 8:12,Allied Building Products Corp recommends back-nailing in the overlap area at
the top of the sheet at 12-inch o.c.
6.4.2.7 For Valleys and Ridges: Cut underlayment into 4 to 6 foot lengths. Peel the release paper and center sheet over
valley or ridge.Drape and press sheet into place, working from the center of the valley or ridge in each direction. For
valleys, apply the sheet starting at the lowest point and work upward.
