SCOPE:
This Evaluation Report is issued under Rule 61G20-3 and the applicable rules and regulations governing the use of
construction materials in the State of Florida. The documentation submitted lias been reviewed by Robert Nieminen,
P.E. for use of the product under the Florida Building Code and Florida Building Code, Residential Volume. The
products described herein have been evaluated for compliance with the 5th Edition (2014) Florida Building Code
sections noted herein.
DESCRIPTION: GAF Asphalt Roof Shingles
LABELING: Labeling shall be in accordance with the requirements the Accredited Quality Assurance Agency noted
herein.
CONTINUED COMPLIANCE:-This Evaluation Report is valid until such time as the named product(s) changes,the referenced
Quality Assurance documentation changes,or provisions of the Code that relate to the product change. Acceptance of
this Evaluation Report by the named client constitutes agreement to notify Robert Nieminen, P.E. if the product
changes or the referenced Quality Assurance documentation changes. Trinity I ERD requires a complete review of this
Evaluation Report relative to updated Code requirements with each Code Cycle.
ADVERTISEMENT: The Evaluation Report number preceded by the words "Trinity I ERD Evaluated" may be displayed in
advertising literature. If any portion of the Evaluation Report is displayed,then it shall be done in its entirety.
INSPECTION: Upon request, a copy of this entire Evaluation Report shall be provided to the user by the manufacturer or
its distributors and shall be available for inspection at the job site at the request of the Building Official.

4. PRODUCT DESCRIPTION:
4.1 Asphalt Shingles:
4.1.1 Marquis®WeatherMax®,Royal Sovereign®and Sentinel®are a fiberglass reinforced 3-tab asphalt roof shingles.
4.1.2 Camelot®, Camelot® II,Country Mansion® II,Grand Canyon®, Grand Sequoia®, Grand Sequoia® IR, Monaco®,Sienna®,
Timberline American Harvest®, Timberline® ArmorShieldT1 II, Timberline® Natural Shadow®, Timberline HD®,
Timberline® Cool Series, Timberline Ultra HD® and Woodland® are fiberglass reinforced, laminated asphalt roof
shingles.
4.1.3 Slateline®is a fiberglass reinforced 5-tab asphalt roof shingle.
4.2 Hip&Ridge Shingles:
4.2.1 Seal-A-Ridge°Ridge Cap Shingles,Seal-A-Ridge®IR Impact-Resistant Ridge Cap Shingles and Timbertex®Premium Ridge
Cap Shingles are fiberglass reinforced,hip and ridge asphalt roof shingles.
4.3 Starter Strips:
4.3.1 Pro-Start® Starter Strip Shingles and WeatherBlocker'" Premium Eave/Rake Starter Strip are starter strips for asphalt
roof shingles.
5. LIMITATIONS:
5.1 This is a building code evaluation. Neither Trinity I ERD nor Robert Nieminen, P.E. are, in any way, the Designer of
Record for any project on which this Evaluation Report, or previous versions thereof, is/was used for permitting or
design guidance unless retained specifically for that purpose.
5.2 This Evaluation Report is not for use in the HVHZ.
5.3 Fire Classification is not part of this Evaluation Report; refer to current Approved Roofing Materials Directory for fire
ratings of this product.
5.4 Wind Classification:
5.4.1 The GAF asphalt shingles noted in Section 4.1 are Classified in accordance with FBC Tables 1507.2.7.1 and R905.2.6.1 to
ASTM D3161,Class F and/or ASTM D7158,Class H,indicating the shingles are acceptable for us in all wind zones up to
Vwd=150 mph(V„ii=194 mph). Refer to Section 6 for installation requirements to meet this wind rating.
5.4.2 The GAF hip & ridge shingles noted in Section 4.2 are Classified in accordance with FBC Tables 1507.2.7.1 and
R905,2.6.1 to ASTM D3161,Class F,indicating the shingles are acceptable for us in all wind zones up to Vnd=150 mph
(V„it=194 mph). Refer to Section 6 for installation requirements to meet this wind rating.

5.4.3 Classification by ASTM D7158 applies to exposure category B or C and a building height of 60 feet or less. Calculations
by a qualified design professional are required for conditions outside these limitations. Contact the shingle
manufacturer for data specific to each shingle.
5.5 All products in the roof assembly shall have quality assurance audit in accordance with the Florida Building Code and
F.A.C.Rule 61G20-3.
6. INSTALLATION:
6.1 Underlayment:
6.1.1 Underlayment shall be acceptable to GAF and shall hold current Florida Statewide Product Approval, or be Locally
Approved per Rule 61G20-3,per FBC Sections 1507.2.3,1507.2.4 or R905.2.3.
6.2 Starter Shingles:
6.2.1 Installation of Pro-Start Starter Strip Shingles and WeatherBlocker Premium Eave/Rake Starter Strip shall comply with the
manufacturer's current published instructions.
6.3 Asphalt Shingles:
6.3.1 Installation of asphalt shingles shall comply with the manufacturer's current published instructions, using minimum four
(4)nails per shingle in accordance with FBC Sections 1507.2 or R905.2,with the following exceptions:
➢ Camelot, Camelot II, Grand Canyon, Grand Sequoia, Grand Sequoia IR, and Woodland require minimum five (5)
nails per shingle.
➢ Slateline requires minimum six(6)nails per shingle. '
6.3.2 Fasteners shall be in accordance with manufacturer's published requirements, but not less than FBC 1507.2.6 or
R905.2.5. Staples are not permitted.
6.3.3 Where the roof slope exceeds 21 units vertical in 12 units horizontal,special methods of fastening are required. Contact
the shingle manufacturer for details.
6.4 Hip&Ridge Shingles:
6.4.1 Installation of Seal-A-Ridge Ridge Cap Shingles and Seal-A-Ridge IR Impact-Resistant Ridge Cap Shingles shall comply with
the manufacturer's current published instructions with a minimum two (2) nails, minimum 3/8-inch head diameter, per
shingle and nominal 0.25-inch diameter beads of Henkel"Loctite PL S30 Roof&Flashing Sealant".

Attachment Method: Cut-out opening as prescribed above into the sheathing located a minimum 6-inch off
the ridge. For a single vent, install the vent as close to the center of the roof length as
possible. Multiple vents should be evenly spaced along the roof length.
Remove interfering shingle nails around the perimeter of the opening and any debris
prior to placing vent. Apply ASTM D 4586 or ASTM D 3409, Type I roofing
cement/mastic to the underside of the perimeter flange to continuously surround and
seal the flange. Position the vent over the opening in the roof sheathing. Slide the top
and side flanges of the vent underneath the shingles and allow the bottom flange to lie
on top of the shingles. Attach the vent with #9 x min. 1.5-inch HWH screws with 0.5-
inch sealing washers or min. 12 ga. x 1-1/4-inch ring shank nails with min. 3/8-inch
diameter heads having sufficient length to penetrate through the sheathing a minimum
of%-inch. The fasteners shall be located 14nch from the edge of the flange and 5.5-
inches o.c. along all four sides of the vent. All loosened shingles shall be adhered
down with roof cement/mastic. When nails are used to attach the vent, all penetrations
through the vent flange shall be sealed using ASTM D 4586 or ASTM D 3409, Type I
roofing cement/mastic.

5) Deck substrates shall be clean, dry, and free from any irregularities and debris. All fasteners in the deck
shall be checked for protrusion prior to installation.

Deck Type: Roof deck shall be constructed of closely fitted sheathing for new or existing
construction. Roof deck shall be designed and installed in accordance with FBC
requirements.
Roof slope: Minimum 3:12 to maximum 16/12
Installation Height: Maximum 60-ft
Attachment Method: Cut a 2-inch opening (1-inch on each side of the ridge) centered in the deck at the
ridge for ventilation. The slot shall terminate approximately 6-inches from the rake
edges. Apply a %-inch wide bead of ASTM D 4586 roofing cement along the entire
length of the outside edges of the vent to seal the vent to the field shingles, taking
care to not completely cover the weep slots in the vent. Center the vent over the
opening and fasten to the deck using the 11 ga. 2'/-inch galvanized ring shank nails
(shall comply with FBC Section 1506.5) provided with the vent. Fasteners are to be
installed on both sides of the vent 1, 12, 24, 36, and 47-inches from the start of each
vent piece.
Prepare the adjacent vent section by applying the roofing cement along the edges,
snap together with fixed vent, and fasten to the deck in the same manner as the first
section. Fasten the ridge shingles over the vent to the deck on the marked "shingle
nail line" with two (2) minimum 11 ga. 2'/-inch galvanized ring shank roofing nails
(shall comply with FBC Section 1506.5) prvided with the vent or as directed by the
shingle manufacturer's installation instructions. Outside edges of the shingles shall
be sealed with flashing cement.
Allowable Roof Coverings: Asphalt shingles

sits flat on the roof. Fasten vent 4-inches o.c. and 1-inch from outside edge of flange
with minimum 12 ga. ring shank roofing nails (shall comply with FBC Section
1506.5), ensuring %-inch penetration through wood deck (Minimum 18 nails per
vent).
Install baffle in %-inch bed of ASTM D 4586 roofing cement and secure with
minimum 12 ga. ring shank roofing nails (shall comply with FBC Section 1506.5)
spaced 8-inches o.c. (total of (3) nails) while ensuring %-inch penetration through
wood deck. Seal all nails and vent flange with ASTM D 4586 roofing cement.

Please read instructions completely before beginning. � `\ `���
Deck and roofing felt should already be installed.
Inspect skylight for damage before installing.Peel back
protective plastic to inspect dome.If skylight is damaged,do
not install.Please contact your supplier for information on a
replacement.
To properly position skylight between trusses/rafters,locate the
roof opening from the underside of the decking.Drill holes or "
drive nails to mark corners.(If this area is not accessible,locate
the ceiling joists from inside the house,mark and cut opening in
ceiling,then.mark roof opening,)
Remove shingles 6-8"out from roof opening.
Before cutting roof opening,check measurements against size
chart.Snap a chalkline from corner to corner,or draw line with a
straightedge,then cut roof opening.
Frame roof opening using 2 x 4's as headers-cut two 2 x 4's to fitpAV D

5 Shingle up roof to bottom of roof opening.
6 Apply a 1/2"wide bead of caulking,setback 1"from the 5
roof opening around the entire opening.Set a second 1/2"
wide bead around the entire opening,set 1"back from
the first bead.Sealant applied too close to the opening
may"ooze"into the opening.Can also use 3"wide x i,V
thick butyl tape,if compatible,set 1/2"back from opening.
Set skylight over opening.Screw into place through the
pre-drilled holes in the flange with the 48 x 1"phillips pan
head screws provided(See Fastener Schedule).Cover the
head of each screw with sealant.
IMPORTANT.
Bottom flange of skylight
MUST go on top of shingles.

8 Now shingle up sides and across top.Place shingles,as far
in as possible,but be careful not to nail through skylight
flange.
9 Bottom flange will still be exposed:we recommend
leaving it this way.If you decide to put a"false
shingle"over it,be careful not to nail through skylight
flange.
10 Interior Finishing: -�--�
Run drywall(or other finishing material) up the inside
face of the skylight curb.Slip the drywall up until it
bumps against the ledge in the top of the curb.

CLEANING YOUR SKYLIGHT:
Use a mild glass cleaner(such as Glass Plus)and a clean sponge or soft cloth.Fresh paint splashes,glazing compound,etc.may beremoved before
drying by rubbing lightly with a soft cloth or cotton ball soaked in isopropyl alcohol,
DO NOT use abrasive or highly alkaline cleaners,ammonia,benzene,gasoline,acetone,or carbon tetrachloride.Do not clean skylight in bright sun or
high temperatures.Periodic waxing with a high quality,non-abrasive wax such as Mirror-Glaze will help maintain the good looks of your skylight.
LIGHT TUNNEL INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
For homes with an attic,it is necessary to build a tunnel between skylights and ceiling.The tunnel walls may be straight,or Flared for extra light and
architectural appeal.It's very easy to increase the tunnel size along the length of the ceiling joists.As long as no roof-supporting members are cut,no
special framing isneeded.While it is possible to flare the tunnel in all directions,if support members are cut,special framing will be required for structural
support.In this case you must consult a qualified building professional to insure proper and safe results.
1 After roof and ceiling openings have been framed, measure distance (at each corner of roof
opening)between rafter/truss and ceiling joist.
2 Using these four measurements,Cut 2 x 4 lumber for vertical support members(two per corner).
3 In each corner,nail vertical support members into place at right angles to each other. �'-
4 Measure,cut,and nail tunnel walls into place.Suggestions for lining tunnel:
-use drywall,tape corners,and paint white using regular or texture paint.(Texture paint alone
will hide and fill untaped joints,but in time,cracks may appear in corners.)
use prefinished paneling with molding in corners.
line the tunnel with cedar,pine,or a wood to coordinate with your decor.
for special effects,try painting the tunnel a striking accent color,or use mirrors or wallpaper on \
tunnel walls.
5 Caulk the slight gap between the tunnel walls and skylight base.
6 Finish off tunnel at ceiling with molding,or blend edges into ceiling with texture paint.
7 Be Sure to wrap the exterior of the tunnel with insulation for energy savings.

purchaser and first consumer-owner of a Skylight made by Sun-Tek.B.Warranty Duration:This war ranty shall remain in effect for a period of five(5)years on Model SF and ten 1101 years on all other Dura-Series models after the date.
the Skylight is purchased or the dale the skylight is delivered to the first consurner-owner,whichever is later.one(1)year on electric components.
