The installation specifications of metal roof panels for the subject residence is reviewed by
myself. The purpose of this letter is to determine wind uplift forces and fastening pattern
of Gulf Coast Supply "5V Crimp" metal roof panels.
The residence is located in Exposure D area. The roof has Boston-Hip configuration, 3/12
slope, and 15 ft mean roof height. As per 2014 Florida Building Code, ASCE 7-10, ultimate
wind velocity of 165 MPH for Risk Category II, in Exposure D area, using Wind Load Factor
of 0.6 for ASD; the wind pressures are determined as:
Field Pi = -52 psf / Perimeter (4' wide) P2 = -87 psf / Corner (4'x4') P3 = -131 psf.
According to Gulf Coast Supply & Manufacturing, LLC; 3x12" wide, 26 ga., 5V Crimp Metal
Roof Panels (FL #11651.12-R2) the max. design uplift pressures are specified as -108.5 psf
using one fastener for every rib, spaced at 12" o.c. vertically in field (P1) and perimeter (P2)
zones; and -156.5 psf using one fasteners at each rib, spaced at 6" o.c. at corner (P3)
zones.
It is required that the roof deck is properly re-nailed and covered with 30-lbs roof felt using
Simplex nails and plastic tags. The roof panels will be fastened using #12-11/2" Woodgrip
fasteners w/ Neoprene washers spaced at 12" o.c. in field and perimeter; and 6" o.c. in
corners. The distance for first row of fasteners from panel edges will be 3" max.
Therefore, this letter is to certify that installation of Gulf Coast 5V Crimp (FL#11651.12-R2)
26 ga. 5V Crimp steel roof panels of the subject residence conform to requirements of 2014
Florida Building Code which specifies 165 MPH ultimate wind velocity for Risk Category II
in Exposure D area.

Minimum Slope Range: Minimum Slope shall comply with Florida Building Code 2014, including
Section 1515.2 and in accordance with Manufacturers recommendations. For
slopes less than 3:12, lap sealant must be used in the panel side laps.
Installation: Install per Manufacturer's recommended details and RAS 133.
Underlayment: Per Manufacturer's installation guidelines per Florida Building Code 2014 Section
1518.2, 1518.3, 1518.4.
Fire Barrier: Any approved fire barrier having a current NOA. Refer to a current fire directory
listing for fire ratings of this roofing system assembly as well as the location of the
fire barrier within the assembly. Fire classification is not part of this acceptance.
Shear Diaphragm: Shear Diaphragm values are outside the scope of this report.
Design Procedure: For roofs within the parameters listed on the load table,fastening pattern must
at a minimum meet those listed for the applicable wind zone. For all roofs outside
the parameters listed on the load table, design wind loads shall be determined
for each project in accordance with FBC 2014 Section 1609 or ASCE 7-10
using allowable stress design.The maximum fastener spacing listed herein shall
not be exceeded.
