R : morida Code Requirement for replacement through-the-wall condensing units
T Whom It May Concern;
Thhie current Florida Energy Code(Chapter Subchapter 13-1,13-101.6 Buitcling Systems)says:
qbl ennal efficiency standa7& are get for the foitowing building systems where new products are
in lied or replaced in existing buildings,and for which a permit must be obtained. Such systems
s ill meet the minimum eficiencles allowed fear that system on Form 400B for commercial buildings
a on Foran 110013 for residential buildings''.
Ht iWever, Mere h-,an excapfan to the above`system efficiency"requirement located just below the above
p , graph under"Exceptions"(number 3)that says:
"3 Replacement equipment that would require extensive revisions to other systems,equipment, or elements
of A building where such replacement is a like-far-like replacement, such as through4ho-wall condensing
u,ilits and PTACs,chillers,and cooling towers in confined spaces".
WO have confirmed with the State that this exception means there is no"system"efficiency requirement when
replacing a through-the-wall condensing unit with a new model that is the same physical size as the original
