R Florida Code Requiriementfor replacement through-the-wall condensing units
T Vlthorn It may Concern;
1*current Florida Energy Code(Chapter Subchapter 13-1,13-101.6 Building Systems)says:
' mal efficiency aftriduds are set for the following buBding systems where new products are
ed or rslgacsd in existing buildings,and for which a permit must be obtained. Such systems
t
e all meet the mWmum efficiencies allowed for that system on Farm 4008 for commercial buildings
a on Fora 11 OOB for residential bui1c11ngV.
Ficlwever, there is arra excepWn to the above"system efficiency"re Ldrement located just below the above
paragraph under"Exceptions!(number 3)that says:
.3;Replacement equipment that would require eAensiye revisions to other systems,equipment,or elements
of a building where such replacement is a like-for4ke replacement,such as through4he wail condensing
u s and PVCs,chillers,and cooling towers in confined spaces'.
VV R have confirmed with the State the this exception means there is no`sydtemA efficiency requirement when
C4
a through4he-wall condensing unit with a new model that is the same physical size as the original
u t
Si ly.
