Lucie County, FL STATE OF FLORIDA DEPARTIUIE .NT OF COMMUNITY AFFAIRS "Dedicated to making Florida a better place to call home" JEB BUSH THADDEUS L.COHEN,AIA Gaveawr Sevelary DIVISION OF HOUSING&COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BUILDING CODES&STANDARDS MEMORANDUM From: Michael Ashworth,Manufactured Buildings Program Manager A'"" To: Building Officials,Manufacturers&Third Party Agencies Subject: Raised Seals on Plans for Manufactured(Modular)Buildings Date: November 28,2006 Section 553.80(1)(d),FS specifically exempts state approved manufactured (modular)buildings bearing the DCA insignia, from further plan review by local code enforcing agencies. Rule 913-1,FAC;and the Florida Building Code(FBG)do not require original signed and sealed plans for manufactured(modular) buildings to be submitted to local jurisdictions to obtain a building permit. The insignia issued by this Department attests that the plans have been reviewed and the buildings inspected by a state approved Third Party Agency and found compliant with the FBC. However, any code requirements not completed at the factory are considered site related and are subject to local plan review and inspection in accordance with the FBC and local requirements. Signing and sealing of these plans should follow local procedures. All site-related installation requirements(e.g., foundation, electrical hook-up,plumbing,etc.,)are specifically and entirely reserved to the local authority having jurisdiction, who may require signed and sealed plans for applicable items. The State of Florida Manufactured(Modular)Buildings Program requires its approved Third Party Agencies to maintain a set of signed and sealed plans,(either hardcopy or electronic)that have been reviewed and approved by.a Florida licensed design professional or Modular Plans Reviewer. inspection reports conducted at the manufacturing facility by Florida licensed design professionals or Modular Inspectors are also required to be on file. Local jurisdictions may require copies of the approved plans with the permit application or may rely on the plans on file at%v w.floridabuildine.or For additional information, please contact Michael Ashworth at 850-922-6075 or E-mail: tnichael.ashworth(cc dca.state.11.us. cc: 1.Jones Files 2.555 SHUMARD OAK BOULEVARD • TALLAHASSEE, FLORIDA 32399-2100 Phone: 850.488.8466/Suncom 278.8,66, FAX: 850.921.07817Suncom 291.0781 Internet address: h_ttp://vrww.dca stale.tl.us CRITICAL STATE CONCFnN FIELD OFFICE CONULLI:ITY PLANtaNG EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT HOUSING L COMMUNTY 0EVELOPMENT 2TDG 0✓mas Hiiphwny.Suite 212 25!5"Itur 'd Oak Bwd-.Ara 2 555 St.=Wd Oak SOLA-Iffd 2S<S5:lu+nxrd Csk Bout vartl kWar—.FL 330017127 Tsrah.FL 32399-2tco T runidse,FL 32/12100 To7ah="rL 3aw2100 (305)2'm4-4D2 (MI)483.22S13 IP4A 41}0'69 (a:0)489.7956 FLA Manufactured Btr - Program 1940 North Monroe Street uu Sv'ie 90A PY g/n| Txo F|mNa3O7Q . poeV871N Fax:0 \ "v ^ .~.
