The Open House will be an informal meeting held at the Lakewood Park Branch Library at 7605 Santa Barbara Drive, Ft. Pierce, FL. between 4 PM and 6 PM. Project personnel will be on hand to discuss the scope of work, construction schedule and address questions and comments one on one. Scope of Work St. Lucie County under a Joint Participation Agreement (JPA) with The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is overseeing the construction of the improvements to the intersection of Kings Highway (approx. 5,000 feet) and Indrio Road (approx.. 4,000 feet). The project will widen the exiting intersection from a two-lane road to four-lane divided road with dedicated left and right turn lanes to handle future expected traffic. In addition to the added travel lanes, a 12- foot shared use path and a 6- foot wide sidewalk will be constructed. Drainage improvements to the project include new stormwater ponds; relocation of an approx. 1,900 feet of Fort Pierce Farms Water Control District Canal No. 4 and the installation of a 9 foot by 6 foot box culvert of approx. 1,300 feet within this canal. Project also includes utility service line relocation. The project will take approximately 2 years being completed by spring of 2019. Maintenance of Traffic To do this work safely, it will be necessary to close travel lanes at various times and locations. One lane traffic in each direction will be maintained at all times at a minimum through the use of flagging operations. Single lane closures will be permitted between 9 am and 4 pm for Kings Highway and Indrio Road. Periodic road closures of local roads which intersect Kings Highway and Indrio Road can be anticipated.
