RESOLUTION NO. 76-94
WHEREAS, the St. Lucie County Planning and Zoning Commission
after holding a public hearing of which due notice was published
at least fifteen (15) days prior to said hearing and all property
owners within 300 feet were notified by mail of said ~hearing, has
recommended to the Board of County Commissioners of St. Lucie
County that the hereinafter described requests for'changes in
zoning classification be GRANTED, AND
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners held a public
hearing on September 14, 1976 after first publishing notice of said
hearing in the News Tribune on August 12, 1976.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commie-

Jack Orend was present to represent Mr. Higgs and Mr. Petravice and stated
they had spent a lot of money 'eh this land. Dr. Petravice owns the adjoining
33 acres abutting it to the south and he just has horses and some of Shorty
Eberhardts goats. He stated it was a beautiful ~iece of land along the St.
Lucie River~ so the animals appreciate it. The 4 acres abutting it is all that
is in A-1 (agriculture) zoning.
Mr. Thomas, Director of Building &Zoning stated he had made great improve-
ments to the property.
A letter from John F. Cooper was read by the Secretary opposing this
re zoning.
Mr. Jack Orend stated he didn't kn~ow where Dr. Cooper's property _was and
was told #27~ 3 lots above the property they were seeking the rezoning for.
The County Coordinator's comments were read by the Chairman.
Moved ~y R. K. Davis, seconded by Mike Skeffington to recommend approval
of this petition to the Board of ~County Commissioners because the rezoning to
A-1 (agriculture) was consistent with the location and with the Plan for the
Savannas. Vote was polled and carried unanimously.

I recently received a notice that a public hearing will be.held regarding
a petition by Jack Orend, Agent for Walter M. Higgs III and Peter Petrance.
These persons are requesting a change in zoning classification from R-lB
(single family dwellings) to A-1 (agriculture) for theproperty.described
in the attached sheet.
As a land owner who would be affected by thiS change, I would like to go
on record as opposing this change. My reasons are personal and economic~
Some day I Shall return to my home town of Fort Pierce, and I plan to build
a home and live on my Saint Lucie River waterfront property.
