DATE: County Commission Development Administrator September 22, 1991 'SUBJECT:- North Port Marina Island - Change in .Zoning As you know, the County recently acquired the old North Port Marina add surrounding island in the River Park ~rea of the County. This facility, as my office understands it, ~s to be used for County regulated recreational activities. Unfortunately, under the properties present residential zoning designation, m~st, ~f not all/.of the desired activities are not permitted. I~' recognition that this is indeed a public property that should be treated in the same manner as any other publicly held park site, we would recommend that this Board authorize the actions necessary to change the zoning on those properties lying south of Prima Vista Boulevard. We do not recommend any change to the properties on the north side of the Boulevard u~til we are certain of the final permitting issues associated with the Prima Vista crossing and the status of.the former GDC riverfront properties. Once tho~e matters are addressed, an area wide rezoning will be presented fOryour, review. If authorized, this rezoning would be presented for Board review on January 14, 1992.
