No one was present to represent the petition, and it was moved to the
end of the agenda.
Having reached the end Qf the agenda, Chairman Scott recalled the three
petitions that had been deferred.
Colean: Mr. Colean stated that the purpose of the petition is to deve!ope the
iots to the North into lots of
Creek Subdivision to the South[TM less than 1/2 acre, being similar to Canoe
Mr. Ken Jackson appeared and spoke in opposition to the petition,
stating that he owned property adjacent on the South and was opposed to any-
thing other than single family residences in the area. Mr. Scott assured-.
him that R-IA zoning was for single-family residences only.
Mrs. Clara Jackson stated that she had no objection to single-family
dwellings, as long as they were single-family dwellings of two per acre. She
questioned the fact that, under the Growth Management Plan they were indicated
as agriculture, and asked how someone could asked for rezoning to single-
family residences. She also stated that years ago someone in the area had
been granted a variance for a duplex and before anyone knew it, there were four
duplexes built. She then aske~ if variances could be granted in R-IA zoning.
She then requested that the rezoning be granted with a stipulation that only
one-half acre lots be develope(l. Mr. Thomas explained that it is unlawful
to place a condition on a ling district. Mr~ Ebner commented that the
maximum being discussed is ~e per acre.
Motion by Mr. Tiernan a Ld second by Mr. Ebner to approve the petition.
The Board was polled and the m, passed nanmmously. The Planning and Zoning
Commission will recommend to Le Board of County Commissioners approval of the
petition for rezoning.
