The nearest significant development is the Port St. Lucie Medical Center about one,half (1/2) mile to the north along U. S. I. Low density/medium density residential with some scattered highway commercial development adja- cent to U. S. 1. CO~IMENTS: In the absence of county policy governing access controls and commercial development along major arterial highways, the proposed rezoning is questionable. There were no objections to this petition. Mr. Skeffingtonmstated he had talked to Mel Broome of General Development Corp~ and they do not object to this rezoning. (We.~st side of U. S. ~1 close to Port St. Lucie City line). The Planning & Zoning Board recommended approval of the petition. Mr. Welshans and Henry Riegler, architect, were present. Mr. Riegler showed on a map the odd shape of Mr. Welshans property most of w~ich is zoned B-3; however, a small triangular piece, to the rear, is zoned A-1. Petitioner plans the construction of a shopping center on the site and needs the tract for which rezoning is requested for sewage facilities. No one else was present to speak for or against the petition. Moved by Com. Park to grant the petition, was seconded by Com. Green and, upon roll call, unanimously carried.
