Green Cha i rman PLANNING 'AND ZONING CO MISSI MAY 24, 1979 PUBLIC HEARING: Petition of Bill and Marlene Stewart for a change in zoning class from B-3 (arterial business) to A-! (agriculture) for property located West side of U. S. #1, directly across from Torpey Road. No one was present to represent the petition, but Mr. William Dool was present and expressed opposition to the petition~ on the basis of existing sand mine in the vicinity that is causing considerable E cited blowing and drifting sand, the noise of s.tarting up at 7 AM, and problem of trucks backing up over his property. He also objected to be left when the sand mining was finished. Mr. Thomas stated that this rezoning would not automatically approv sand mining, that it would have to be approved by the Board of County Mrs. Dooling was also present, and stated that as the owner and o of the Monkey Tree Day Care Center, the blowing sand was so bad last she registered a complaint against the sand mining. She stared that nearly 1/2 inch of sand in the bottom of her pool the children outside. , and that she could no Mr. Tiernan stated that the sand mine that is causing the problems the piece of property under consideration for rezoning, and that the san, has nothing to do with the petition for rezoning. Mr. Dooling further stated that he was asked to represent adjacent owners Mr. John A. Cook and Richard Krause the petition. , as they also are in oppositi Mr. Ament's comments were read into the record by the Chairman, Mr. Mr. Ebner stated that he does not believe that agriculture zoning ha place on U. S. #1, eithem North or South, and if anything would be detr~ to the area. Motion to deny the petition made by Mr. Ebner and secomd by King. ' The Board was polled and the motion passed unanimously.
