Y Mr. Andy Baumker, Jr. appeared to speak for the petition and stated he would like to change the zoning from residential to agriculture. He said he thought it was agriculture all these years, it has always been used for that purpose. He said he wants to continue to run his business from there. Mr. U. B. Wetherington noted that there is agriculture zoning all around this property on the map and asked how it got changed to residential. Mr. Vannoy said the new zoning is RM-5. Mrs. Fawsett asked Mr. Baumker what he has there now and he said he has his home and a crain service business, he constructs bulkheads. Mrs. Fawsett said he could work from his home in RM-5 and Mr. Baumker said Mr. Ament told him he could operate his business if he got agriculture zoning. Mr. Davis said there are other businesses in the area, Chesser's Tractor service is just down the road. Mr. Baumker said H. L. Thompson just on the other side of him does grove work and has draglines. Mr Harrell said he grew up in that area and there are several businesse~ around there, including nurseries. Mr. Davis said there is building contractor there also. Less than ½ mile to the east is the Orange Blossom Mall. Okeechobee Road is less than ½ mile to the south. Medium density residential RM-5 Comments: The Okeechobee Road corridor between the City of Ft. Pierce and the Florida Turnpike is a rapidly'urbanizing area and is expected to continue to develop. The area in question could fit into the urban service area in the forseeable future. This is reflected in the medium density residential Future Land Use Classification assigned to the area by the Growth Management Policy Plan (up to 11 units per acre).
