PIERCE BOWLING LANES Petition first heard on Jan. 9th and again on Jan. 16th as no one repre- senting petitioner was present on either dates. Mr~ Lewis advised that the Planning & Zoning Commission had recommended approval of the petition. Mr. Kenneth Mathews was present representing the petition and stated that the plan was to add onto the existing building, but they are now trying to buy an additional building and add onto it. Upon a question he added that the change in zoning to B-3 is desired regardless of which building they add to. There was no opposition to the petition. Moved by Com. McCain, seconded by Com. Enns and, upon roll call, carried unanimously, to adopt Res. No. 79 -6, which ~rants the rez~n~n~ ~]]~St of Ft Pierce Bowling Lanes from M-1 (manufacturing) to B-3 (arterial business) for property located on the east side of U.S.~I about 833 ft. north of Naco Road. BOARD 0F COUNTY COMMISSIONERS JANUARY 16, 1979 ZONING - PUBLIC HEARINGS Petition of Ft. Pierce Bowling Lanes by Kenneth Mathews for a change in zoning from M-1 (manufacturing) to B-3 (arterial business) for property located on the east side of U. S. #1 about 833 ft. north of Naco Road. This petition was first heard on Jan. 9th at which time no one repre- senting the petitioner was present so the Board tabled the petition until today, instructing Mr. Thomas to inform the petitioner that he or his representative should be present. Although Mr. Thomas reported that he had conveyed this information to the petitioner who sai~ he would attend today's meeting, neither he nor his representative was present. Com. McCain moved to table the petition for one more week, directing Mr. Thomas to inform the petitioner that if he is not present at next week's meeting, he (McCain) will move to deny the petition. The motion was seconded by Com. Park, and upon roll call, unanimously carried. McCain asked Mr. Thomas if petitioners are advised that action of the Planning & Zoning Commission is a recommendation to this Board and petitioners presence is re- quired at the Board hearing. Mr. Thomas replied that they are so advised. It was decided to wait until later in the meeting to see if a representa- tive would appear. At the conclusion of regular business, neither petitioner nor a representa- tive had appeared. Moved by Com. Price, seconded by Com. Park and, upon roll call, carried unanimously, to table the matter for one week. Mr. Thomas advised that he would contact petitioner~. Green Cha i rman PUBLISH: December 26, 1978 PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION DECEMBER 7, 1978 PUBLIC HEARING: Petition of Ft. Pierce Bowling Lanes, by Kenneth W. Matthews, for a change in zoning classification from M-1 (manufacturing) to B-3 (arterial business) for property located on the East side of U. S. #1, approximately 833 ft. North of Naco Road. Mr. Matthews was present and explained that the rezoning was necessary for his to build an addition to the established business. There was no opposition to the petition. Mr. Moore asked Mr. Thomas is this rezoning is necessary for what Mr. Matthews wants to do. Mr. Thomas replied that in order to bui.ld the addition, the property needs to be brought from non-conforming status into the proper zonmng. Motion by Mr. Davis and seconded by Mr. Scott to approve the petition. The Board was polled and the motion passed unanimously. The Planning and Zoning Commission will recommend to the Board of County Commissioners appmovat of the petition for rezoning. Mr. Matthews then presented the Board with a letter of consent for the building addition from the property owners. Land immediately to the south is currently vacant and zoned B-2. Land adjacent on the east is used for a school. Land to the north is used for a mixture of Iow density residen- tial and general commercial. FutUre Land Use: Tourist/hospitality commercial. COMMENTS: The proposed rezoning is actually to a more restrictive classifica- tion than the current zoning classification of M-1.
